Splitting PCB fabrication, assembly, component sourcing, and testing across different suppliers can look smart on paper.

One supplier gives a good PCB price. Another handles SMT. A distributor helps with components. A local partner manages testing.

This can work well when the project is simple and the customer has enough internal resources to manage every interface.

But when the schedule is tight, revisions are frequent, or quality expectations are higher, the real cost often appears in the handoffs.

The Customer Becomes the Coordinator

When a problem appears, it is rarely obvious where it started.

The PCB supplier says the boards match the files.
The assembler says the pads or surface finish caused soldering risk.
